Iberzoo Propet reports record figures

Iberzoo Propet 2026, Spain and Portugal's leading international trade fair for pet professionals, will take place for the 17th time at IFEMA Madrid from 11 to 13 March. The record number of participants reflects the booming pet supplies business: more than 1,200 companies at 300 stands have already confirmed their participation, which is over 15 per cent more than before.

The positive situation in the industry has also led to significant growth in the number of international manufacturers participating, who will be represented by more than 80 stands, according to the organisers.

The positive expectations for the upcoming edition of Iberzoo Propet 2026 reflect the reality of a growing sector: In Spain, almost 50 per cent of households have a pet (over 28 million animals, including 9.4 million dogs and 5.9 million registered cats); worldwide, the pet industry could grow by 5 per cent to 6 per cent annually in the coming years, according to estimates by Bloomberg Intelligence, report the organisers.

They add: On the other hand, the Spanish sector generates a turnover of around 6 billion Euro, comprises more than 5,000 retail stores and 7,000 veterinary clinics and service companies, and creates around 75,000 direct and up to 300,000 indirect jobs. This growth is driven by greater social awareness of animal welfare and the consolidation of an animal-friendly culture in our country.

The profile of visitors to Iberzoo Propet continues to be predominantly that of specialist retailers and veterinarians, but other professionals with an interest in this sector are also increasingly attending.

Iberzoo Propet takes place at the same time as the Vetmadrid Veterinary Congress (attended by more than 2,000 healthcare professionals). This brings together the entire value chain (veterinarians, laboratories, pet food, medicines, accessories, care, distribution and services) in one place, which sets the fair apart from other events in this sector in Europe.
